Spring |
| The
70-mile-long Rainy river, which feeds Lake of the Woods
from the east, is well known for its superb fishing.
During late March and early April, the river offers the
best open-water walleye fishing in the state.
Springtime
also means ice-out northern pike. These giant gators
are hungry from the long winter and are very willing to
bite, which means a great chance for a trophy!

Summer
|
|
World-Class
Walleye Fishing |
| Lake
of the Woods' numerous rock reefs, deep mud flats and sand
bottom areas help create trophy walleye and sauger fishing
that is second to none. The Rainy River is a superb
and virtually untapped resource that offers mid-summer smallmouth
bass action along with walleye, sauger and northern pike.

Fall
|
|
Fall
Trophy Walleye River Run |
|
September
through ice-up delivers some of the best fishing of the
year. Trophy
walleyes migrate from the lake into the river and the action
really heats up. Smallmouth bass are also fat and
sassy and are bulking up for the winter months.

Spring
- Fall Sturgeon |
|
If
a line-stretching, heart-pounding, arms-aching fight with
a REALLY big fish is more your style, sturgeon fishing is
for you.
These prehistoric giants that roam our
waters
are a thrill of a lifetime on hook and line.
Not for
the faint of heart,
sturgeon fishing can be fast and furious.
20
to 80 lbs. is Not Uncommon !
